Many Operational Issues With EMU Remain Unanswered, Say Analysts

Representatives of US and European financial institutions met in New York last month to discuss operational issues involved in European Monetary Union (EMU) and its impact on US financial markets.

The conference, sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the US FX Committee, outlined many problems associated with EMU, but offered few solutions.

The Fed forum featured speakers from the Bank of England, Bankers Trust, Citibank, Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley. Issues raised
