Smith Barney is installing a global currency options system using applications developed by New York-based Zai*Net Software. The contract comes as part of the investment bank's expansion in the options market, and follows recent changes in its derivatives and risk-management technology strategy. "Generally, our preference is to buy software rather than build systems in-house from scratch," says Kelley McCabe, first vice president of systems at Smith Barney.
