U.S. Banks Dominate N.Y. Market But FX Strategies Vary At Top Five

In the New York marketplace, the top five-ranked banks are all U.S. institutions, similar in that they have all long been among the top-tier banks in foreign exchange, yet they differ in trading strategies.

Interestingly, the "best bank" is not necessarily the one with the largest annual trading revenues. As ranked by FXW subscribers, Chemical Bank (which in 1994 posted $152 million in FX trading revenues) is the top-rated bank in New York, followed by Citibank ($573 million), JP Morgan ($131
