Retail FX broker launches new subsidiary after navigating regulatory hurdles

IG Group has launched a new US-based subsidiary to provide retail foreign exchange services to online traders there, amid a tough regulatory environment that has squeezed other providers out of that market.

The retail FX broker, headquartered in London, said IG US will open up to the whole US market in early February, after a soft launch for selected clients on January 31.

While the subsidiary’s chief executive, Rupert Osborne, describes the US as a “fairly stagnant and underserved” market, IG
