EM currencies going from "doom to bloom"

SocGen strategist sees positive signs in emerging markets

The outlook for emerging market (EM) currencies has gone from "doom to bloom" since the middle of last year, according to Benoit Anne, head of global emerging market strategy at Societe Generale.

Speaking at this month's EMFX Trading Summit in London, Anne expressed confidence that developing world countries had recovered from the hammering they took between May and June, when the US Federal Reserve first raised the prospect of ‘tapering' its quantitative easing (QE) programme.
