FX trading volumes remain in decline

Foreign exchange trading volumes appear to have continued their downward trend during April, according to monthly data published by interdealer broker Icap and Thomson Reuters last week.

Average daily spot volume on Icap's EBS platform was $109.7 billion in April – down 11% month-on-month and 26% year-on-year. Meanwhile at Thomson Reuters, average daily spot volumes on the vendor's three spot trading platforms was higher than EBS, at $130 billion, but still down from its own volumes of $137
