Currency ETPs kick off

Martin Arnold, senior analyst at ETF Securities in London said volumes traded in currency-linked ETPs were up 80% on the weekly average.

“The majority of the platform is now short-euro strategies and about 57% is dedicated just to short euro/long US dollar positions," said Arnold. "It is in contrast to two to three weeks ago, when we saw around 35% in total for short-euro strategies."

Arnold said that, with the Ireland incident, currencies such as the Swedish krona have come under pressure
