Icap and CME volumes continue YOY fall in May

Trading volumes continued their double-digit slump in May on Icap's EBS spot-broking platform and at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME).

EBS was worst hit, with volumes falling just over $59 billion, or 31%, from May last year to hit $134.3 billion. So far volumes in all five months of this year have failed to match the totals from 2008, meaning average daily volumes for the year to May-end are 38% down at $141.2 billion.

In Chicago, the CME Group registered average daily volumes of 544,000
