Wells Fargo follows USD on way up

A dollar-driven forecast has thrust Wells Fargo to the top of the three-month currency forecast rankings.

Vassili Serebriakov, New York-based currency strategist at the bank, said that the US dollar has strengthened over the past three months due to a combination of short- and medium-term market forces. And the persistence of some of these elements will keep the currency strong throughout 2009.

"The immediate dollar strength in September and October was to do with the short-term bank funding
