2005 a tough year for FX investors

Since the summer, the major FX markets have been broadly range-bound. Moreover, despite the recent rally in the dollar, most FX investors failed to capture the move, as they remained on the sidelines for much of the time, at least according to our positioning measures.

More recently, though, investor sentiment has turned more bullish on the dollar, but in our view such sentiment is likely to help end the dollar rally, rather than add further fuel to it.
