Since the devaluation of the lira in September, the market in lira has been undergoing something of a rough time, say senior traders at Italian banks in both Italy and London. Although the uncertainty has boosted activity in some currencies, liquidity has been more patchy in the lira, traders report. And, they say, with the current political turmoil in Italy and the approach of Christmas, both banks and corporate customers are keeping their heads down.
