CME Readies Cross Rate Currency Contracts Cross Rate Options Also Eyed; A Fall Launch?

You can add the Chicago Mercantile Exchange's (CME) name to those actively pursuing cross rate currency futures contracts, according to sources on the floor of the exchange. In addition, the exchange is also looking into launching options on the cross rate contracts.

Although the exchange has yet to file for regulatory approval, it "will be approaching the CFTC before too long," one trader said, with the intention of getting the contracts trading by the fall.
