US Banks' 1998 Results Likely To Show Record Year For Foreign Exchange


NEW YORK--With most of the main US commercial banks preparing to report their 1998 results this week, market insiders are expecting a strong showing in FX.

Volatility in the first three quarters was exceptionally high, and even the unusual tailing off of activity in the fourth quarter in the run up to the launch of the euro is unlikely to have made a significant impact on the overall strength of FX results, officials say.
