The Bank of Israel, the country’s central bank, has announced changes in the weight of its currency basket for the shekel, beginning May 2.

The weight of the US dollar will be down by 0.42 percentage points, while that of the euro will increase by 1.86 percentage points. The yen will gain 0.62 percentage points in weight, while the pound sterling will lose 2.06 percentage points.

The re-weighting of basket currencies reflects the changes in the Israeli economy’s foreign trade volume in 1999.
