Forex market participants are expecting the same themes that dominated 1997 to continue this year, with a strong dollar, anxiety over South East Asia and the impending arrival of European Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) setting the stage for persistent volatility. But many dealers are anticipating a shift in focus from Asia to Europe around mid-year, as dealers turn their attention to the "Ins" of EMU.
