Susquehanna Group Attracts Suitors As Chase Agreement Nears Expiry

Not only does the recently-announced merger between Chemical Bank and Chase Manhattan Bank raise questions about the future of the foreign exchange industry, but observers are increasingly questioning the stability of another relationship.

Within the next year, Chase's strategic alliance with derivatives boutique Susquehanna Investment Group, signed in March 1992, expires, which could potentially sap some of the strength the mega-merger is expected to create, sources say (FXW, March 20, 1992).
