Reuters N.Y. Power Outage Closes Mid-Town FX Desks To The World

A power outage at Reuters' mid-town New York data centre caused widespread disruption in foreign exchange trading February 24, accentuating market moves by 20 to 30 points in some cases, sources say. For banks and dealing institutions in mid-town, Reuters' all-important Dealing 2000-1 conversational service, the Dealing 2000-2 FX matching service and the Reuters digital information system were knocked out for more than four hours at the height of New York trading.
