
Market focus shifts to fundamentals
The greenback weakened to $1.096 against the euro, from $1.074 earlier in the week. The currency was also weaker against the Japanese yen, at around 119 yen per dollar. Analysts said some in the market are discussing the possibility that the euro could test its year highs of $1.105.
Although the market has been preoccupied with the war in Iraq for much of the year so far, attention is turning to economic fundamentals -- and that spells bad news for the dollar, analysts said.
