Trade tensions will recede as the US enters a presidential election year, according to Swissquote, which topped this week’s one-month emerging markets (EM) currency forecast rankings.

These tensions have been having the greatest influence on EM nations, says Peter Rosenstreich, head of market strategy at Swissquote: “You can see this in the underperformance of emerging market names in equity markets in 2019.”
