R3 adds five more banks to blockchain project

Number of participants rises to 30 since September launch

BNP Paribas, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, ING Bank, Macquarie Bank and Wells Fargo have joined the R3-led initiative to develop distributed-ledger technologies for the financial industry, boosting the number of participating banks to 30 since its September launch.

The project will focus on research, experimentation and engineering to help advance blockchain solutions to meet banking requirements for security, reliability, performance, scalability and audit.
