Deep thought: alternative data is increasingly being sought to aid investment decisions

Bloomberg has added more than 20 alternative data sets to its online Enterprise Access Point service, widening the website’s scope of information beyond traditional areas such as pricing and reference data.

The data sets come from providers such as Predata, which uses machine learning to predict geopolitical, security and market-moving events. Data also includes central bank analytics that market participants can use when building trading strategies around countries and their currencies.
