BIS vows to strengthen Basel II

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has said it will address the weaknesses of the financial markets in the areas of regulation, supervision and risk management.

The Basel Committee expects to issue recommendations in early 2009 covering topics such as strengthening the risk capture of the Basel II framework, enhancing the quality of tier one capital and building additional shock absorbers into the capital framework.
