Technical analysis specialist Fiamass suffered a blow in the promotion of its FLO Analysis system when the European Patent Office (EPO) rejected its attempt to patent the Fibonacci wave cycle analysis algorithm on which it is based.

Fiamass director and founder Brad Georges claims to hold patents for the algorithm in the U.S., Canada and Australia, with a patent pending in Japan. But the European patent was overturned after objections from MaxAnalysis, a rival vendor which also uses the technique
