
Trading platforms break records
Electronic spot broker EBS traded more than 1,100 deals worth $3.9 billion in just 60 seconds after the data was announced at 1.30pm London time.
The Chicago Mercantile Exchange, meanwhile, traded $36 billion electronically – and $47 billion in total – in 4,000 transactions in the same 60 seconds.
The record minute's trading helped EBS trade $172 billion in total throughout the day – the third highest trading day of 2004 and the seventh highest in EBS's history.
