CLS interest picks up in Asia

The yen and the Australian dollar are the only Asian currencies currently available on CLS, so financial institutions in Asia have not previously made urgent CLS preparations, ABN Amro said. But the Singapore dollar will be added to the list of CLS-eligible currencies this year, and the Hong Kong dollar and New Zealand dollar are scheduled to join in 2004.

CLS is now examining the addition of the Korean won and the Thai baht.
