Peso set to underperform for rest of 2016, executives say

A survey organised by Bloomberg finds FX participants downbeat about Mexico's currency

Poor performance: 57% of respondents expected the peso to lag its peers throughout 2016

Mexico's peso is expected to underperform the majority of its emerging markets peers, according to a poll of more than 120 foreign exchange market participants in the country, conducted by Bloomberg.

Those polled include FX corporate and sales executives, traders and strategists in Mexico. A total of 57% said the currency will continue to lag its peers throughout 2016, with scope for further declines by the year end.

Only 19% of respondents said the peso's losses this year have been excessive
