Panelists advise Bush on China

Speaking at the inaugural FX Week Asia congress last Thursday (October 13), they were told to advise George Bush on his policy when dealing with China and its currency policy.

Uwe Parpart, senior currency strategist at Bank of America, while uncertain he wanted the job, said he would advise Bush to ignore the pressure to push the Chinese authorities to revalue the yuan. He said: "It has nothing to do with US jobs. What is needed is global flexibility rather than the emphasis on appreciation."
