Aussie economy booms but currency unmoved

MARKET NEWS

SYDNEY -- The Australian economy is experiencing a mini-boom, but analysts told FX Week the Aussie dollar remains immune to the success.

"The growth story is not rubbing off on the Aussie at the moment," James Shugg, senior economist at Westpac Banking Corp in London, told FX Week. "We do see appreciation in the earlier part of next year, but that is based on the market pricing in a better global economic situation by then."

The Australian economy is growing at a rate of 1.1% per quarter
