Algos must be prepared for risk events, experts warn

Algorithmic execution tools for foreign exchange must be properly designed to recognise and navigate risk events such as trading platform outages and incorrect prices, to prevent users from incurring losses, experts have warned.

Some traders report that algorithmic tools exacerbated the effect of last month's artificial fall in the Swiss franc that resulted from an incorrect EUR/CHF price being entered onto the EBS platform on January 18.
