You sat on the ECB’s Supervisory Board from 2019 to 2024, a period marked by the coronavirus pandemic and the war in Ukraine, as well as a mini-banking crisis in the US and the collapse of Credit Suisse. How did these events affect the thinking of banking supervision in Europe?

Indeed, it was quite a period. Some of these shocks were not ones we had experienced in the banking sector before. Covid was certainly difficult. If you recall in the very first days, we all had no idea what was to come
