
CFTC to boost resources to study HFT impact
Acting CFTC chief hopes to get better analytics to discover the effects of high-frequency trading on the market

Christopher Giancarlo, acting chairman of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), is moving to enhance the agency’s capabilities to determine whether high-frequency traders pose a threat to the derivatives and commodities markets.
Giancarlo, whose nomination as permanent chairman of the CFTC was approved on June 29 by the Senate Agriculture Committee to advance to the full Senate for consideration, said he has asked government appropriators for an additional 12 economists so proper
