Participants in the foreign exchange market have ramped up the pressure for global consistency in the exemption of FX swaps and forwards from key regulations following the final exemption issued by the US Treasury on November 16 and subsequent comments by Markus Ferber, an influential member of the European Parliament, that Europe is not obliged to follow suit.

Speaking at the FX Week Europe conference in London earlier today, speakers suggested it would be a bizarre turn of events for policy
