CFTC starts SEF regulation discussions
The CFTC is working on registration procedures for SEFs, as well as regulations stemming from its core principles such as safeguarding against market manipulation, managing conflicts of interest and setting responsibilities and procedures for market events, according to John Rogers, chief information officer at the CFTC.
A market participant who spoke at the hearing called for consideration of how rulemaking could change SEFs’ role and position in the market.
