Yu-Jer Sheu, the former minister of finance in Taiwan, has been elected as chairman of the board of the Taiwan Futures Exchange (Taifex). 

He took the helm on July 23, from outgoing chairman Liu Len-yu, who had headed the exchange since September 2014.

Sheu served as Taiwan’s finance minister between May 2016 and July 16 this year. During his two-year tenure, he launched tax reforms that have changed the country’s tax-code system significantly.
