HSBC hedge fund sales head to join JP Morgan

Michael Spencer, former head of hedge fund foreign exchange sales at HSBC, is to join JP Morgan after resigning his post last week.

Based in London, Spencer had been at HSBC for seven years and reported to Robbert Sijbrandij and Claude Goulet, co-heads of FX and commodities institutional sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Spencer joined HSBC in April 2005 to focus on selling FX options to hedge funds. Prior to that he had been at Citi for three years, and had also worked at UBS.
