Citi builds private banking with Schmeja

Citi Private Bank has hired Michael Schmeja from Saxo Bank as head of private banking.

Schmeja left his role as Saxo's global head of foreign exchange derivatives sales in Copenhagen, where he reported locally to Edward Voorhees, senior vice-president and global head of foreign exchange.

He joined the Danish bank in 2009 as head of the direct options business from the Royal Bank of Scotland. At the UK bank, he was responsible for all FX products in Switzerland, Germany and Austria.
