Bass joins RBC as fixed-income head

RBC Capital Markets is bolstering its Asia-Pacific franchise with two hires in Hong Kong.

Last week Mike Bass joined the bank as managing director and head of fixed income and currencies (FIC) in Asia, excluding Japan, while Mark Otis Zownir became managing director and head of US dollar rates trading, Asia.

The hires reflect dealers' growing interest in the region. Société Générale aims to boost its headcount in the Asia-Pacific by 10% next year (see page 8).
