U.K. Banks See Good First Half As FX Volatility Remains High

U.K. bankers are expecting to report a good 1993 first half in foreign exchange next month when they release interim results for the year--although perhaps not as good as the one most enjoyed for the second half of last year.

"I'd say we had a strong advance on last year's performance," says Humphrey Percy, global foreign exchange director for Barclays Bank. "There have been reasonable opportunities in the marketplace and I am pleased with the results."
