Merrill Lynch Solves Personnel "Puzzle" Taps Slater To Head N.Y. FX Trading Unit

Merrill Lynch Foreign Exchange in New York ended its year-long search last week by tapping Mark Slater to head its foreign exchange trading operation. Slater will oversee a 20 person trading unit that is active in spot, forward and proprietary foreign exchange trading.

"This is kind of like the final piece to this puzzle," says Joseph Petri, president of Merrill Lynch Government Securities and head of its global foreign exchange division. "We've hired Mark after a pretty extensive search
