Merita Posts Level FX Results In Latest Interim Earnings

In its first reporting period as a combined entity, Merita Bank of Finland reports "level" interim FX earnings for 1996, versus comparable figures for the same period a year ago. Officials say FX earnings were affected by lower trading volume in the FX market during the half.
Merita Group reports FM109 million in foreign exchange dealing for the first half of 1996 and FM80 million for the same period last year. However, officials say the figures are not comparable as they exclude Kansallis group
