Hypobank Hires Shubrook in London

Hypobank has recruited Brian Shubrook, former money markets manager at Swiss Volksbank in London, and four traders to join its currency derivatives operation in London.

Volksbank's trading rooms outside Switzerland closed on April 30, 1993, after the bank's merger with Credit Suisse.

Editor's note: Shubrook spent about a year with Hypobank before returning as treasurer to Banco Santander, where he previously worked between 1975-1980.

Shubrook left Santander when it reversed earlier expansion plans and centralized its forex trading activities in Madrid in early 1995.

Later that year, Shubrook took a new post as treasurer and assistant general manager at Bank Brussels Lambert in London, along with a team of traders and FX manager, Mark Bolton. Shubrook and Bolton both remain at BBL today. Since joining, Shubrook has expanded BBL's London forex team from 10 dealers

to about 30 currently.

Separately, Shubrook chairs the FX & Money Markets Committee of the Foreign Banks & Securities Association.
