OCC Plans US Internet Rules

WASHINGTON, DC--The US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) is to introduce national rules to regulate internet-based banking and trading.

In mid-February the OCC invited comments on where existing regulation could be expanded to give greater security. Submissions to the OCC have to be made by April 3. A report will be published in November 2001.

"We invite comment on whether OCC regulations adequately address the risks in current or future electronic activities," says a spokesperson
