Numerous upcoming regulatory developments and changing investor requirements are encouraging institutional investors in Europe to seek less volatile alpha through the use of alternative investments, which is encouraging a shift away from equities, according to a new report from State Street.

The State Street Vision report, which looks at Europe's asset management industry, says asset allocation trends suggest a shift from equities to bonds by European investors, who are favouring cost-effective
