Gerko makes senior hire at XTX

Michael Irwin, former global chief operating officer for over-the-counter and listed clearing at State Street, has joined new market-making business XTX in the same role.

Based in London, Irwin reports to Alex Gerko, head of FX trading at GSA Capital.

Gerko is set to launch electronic market-making business XTX on July 1, after splitting with GSA.

Irwin had worked at State Street since October 2013, but left at the beginning of this year, following the closure of its US swaps-clearing unit.
