Morgan Stanley economist joins US Treasury
Richard Berner, chief US economist and co-head of global economics at Morgan Stanley, has joined the US Department of the Treasury as counsellor to Treasury secretary Timothy Geithner. He started on April 25 and will advise on a range of policy issues within the domestic finance portfolio, including the newly created Office of Financial Research. Berner had been at Morgan Stanley for 11 years.
