CME Readies GFX Facility To Make Markets On Globex

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange's Globex Foreign Exchange Facility (GFX) will begin trading on January 23, say officials, who hope the market making unit will result in increased liquidity and business on the trading floor.

GFX is composed of a team of nine market makers who will work in two shifts to make competitive markets in currency futures contracts on Globex, the after-hours electronic trading system.

The team, headed by chief dealer Mike Dengis, will actively make markets in the Deutsche
