LEHMAN LANDS OPTIONS HEAD

Lehman Brothers has hired Pritpal Gill as global head of exotic FX options trading in London.

Gill previously worked at Citibank in London for eight years. He left the bank earlier this summer. Gill reports to Ivan Ritossa, co-global head of FX and local markets and works alongside Cameron Miller, global head of options trading.

DEUTSCHE HIRES SENIOR FX SALES DEALER

Guido Williams

joins Deutsche Bank in London next month as an Italian FX sales dealer. He replaces Fabrizio Russo, who left to join Goldman Sachs last month.

Williams reports to Italian head of FX sales Carlo Arosio. He joins from Abax Bank in Milan where he was head of FX options, and has also worked at HSBC in London and Caboto in Milan.

Rashid Hoosenally, head of European FX sales at Deutsche in London, told FX Week the bank’s FX business is seeing solid growth. "Our clients in Italy have become increasingly focused on actively managing their FX risks. The addition of Guido to strengthen our team will help us continue to provide the best in value-added risk strategy to our growing client base," he said.

BEAR STEARNS OPTIONS TRADER QUITS

Bear Stearns’ senior FX options dealer in London David Rosenberg has left the bank, sources on the trading floor told FX Week. His whereabouts are not known, and the source said he is yet to be replaced.

DEN DANSKE LOSES SENIOR DEALERS

Lee Sims

, head of money markets and FX trading, and David Heaton, senior FX forwards trader at Den Danske Bank in London, both left last month. Their positions have been filled internally, said a source for the bank in London. Matthew Couch now covers money markets, reporting to head of treasury Torben von Lowzow.

DEUTSCHE BANK SAYS NO JOB CUTS, CSFB DENIES RUMOURS

Rolf Breuer, Deutsche Bank chief executive, has assured US employees that there will be no job cuts in spite of the economic downturn.

Breuer said the events of September 11 had only strengthened the bank’s resolve to continue building in the US.

His comments, made as Deutsche Bank shares started trading on the New York Stock Exchange last week, came as CSFB became the latest investment bank rumoured to have made further job cuts -- although a spokesperson for the bank told FX Week no new cuts have been announced.

CSFB has cut more than 500 investment banking jobs since the end of March, but the spokesperson said the latest reports of a further 20% cull of its investment banking staff were unfounded.

BANK OF AMERICA FUNDS DEALER JOINS JP MORGAN

Mel Hussain

joins JP Morgan in London this month as an FX sales dealer for US funds. He will report to head of FX fund sales in London Jamie Bonic.

Hussain joins from Bank of America in London, where he worked on the UK funds foreign exchange sales desk, reporting to European FX sales head Angelo Evangelista.

Bank of America has not named a replacement for Hussain.

ROYAL BANK OF CANADA HIRES SALES DEALER IN LONDON

Sonja Lang has joined Royal Bank of Canada’s European FX sales desk in London, a spokesperson has told FX Week.

Lang, who reports to Francois Heripier, head of FX sales at the bank in London, joined RBC from West LB where she was also a sales dealer.
