Gerald Corrigan, aged 52, former head of the Federal Reserve Bank and chairman of the Bank for International Settlements Basle Committee on Banking Supervision, is joining Goldman Sachs to run "special projects" on a full-time basis from next summer.

Tom Stanley, head of foreign exchange for Barclays de Zoete Wedd in New York, has been promoted to deputy head of global foreign exchange and will move to the bank's London head office in January, bank officials confirm. A Barclays spokesperson says
