Prosecutor calls for Trichet conviction

Trichet, along with eight other bankers and finance officials, is on trial over allegedly concealing massive losses at then state-owned Credit Lyonnais using taxpayers’ money in 1992--1993. Following a five-hour speech, Bernard said Trichet should be convicted and handed a minimum 10-month suspended jail sentence.

The trial judge, Olivier Perusset, will conclude this Wednesday (February 12) and is expected to reveal at that time the date of his verdict.
