Unclear future for merging brokers

As job security for staff at the two firms remains uncertain, other brokerage firms are looking to pick staff up and the business that they can bring in from the merged firm.

Rivals argue that the merger will inevitably lead to a fall in market share of the combined organisation as banks will not want to have relationships with two brokers from the same company and that this in combination with a desire to cut costs will lead to a raft of redundancies.
